WARNING! - In this "Crime-of-Passion" Drama that simply refuses to end, prepare yourself for something of a let-down when it's finally revealed (in this film's closing scene) what the title "The Postman Always Rings Twice" is refering to._____ I'm tellin' ya - If you're like me you'll surely roll your eyes to the ceiling when John Garfield's dead-serious character (who's waiting on Death Row for his execution) makes a truly laughable, metaphorical connection between the Postman ringing twice and his involvement with that murderous slut, Cora Smith._____ Yes. I'm well-aware that a lot of people are more than eager to heap piles of praise on this 1946 "Bad-Boy-Meets-Bad-Girl" movie, but, with that said, this vintage flick (which started out in first-gear) really deteriorated in its last hour into a steady, downward spiral of relentlessly absurd situations that defied common-sense thinking._____ In my opinion - On top of the confusing legalities that got introduced into the story (compounded by several contrived plot-twists), this picture suffered significantly from the casting of that "Barbie Doll" Lana Turner as the conniving, little minx, Cora Smith._____ All-in-all - I would never, ever consider this poorly-structured, anti-climatic picture (with its heavy-handed music score that telegraphs every plot turn) to be worthy of being classified in the genre of Film Noir.
