Comment:

I was so, so sad to see that the library and story time in this book are framed as the bad place. The place you get told no. The place you aren't allowed into if you happen to be eating an apple (not true, by the way). But the playground and everywhere else in the story is fun and filled with color and imagination. The two pages that blast the library ruined this beautifully illustrated story for me.

Comment:

The pictures are cute and the story is funny and sweet right up to the last two pages where things aren't so sweet. There's no explanation for the ending and I suspect it was meant to be funny but the joke doesn't land well at all. I wonder if the illustrator and the author weren't seeing the story quite the same way.
